Hotel accommodation with villa rooms and cooking facilities in Wellington
Absolutely do not stay here. The place is not a hotel. I have slept in shearing sheds cleaner than this place. Photos do not show the mold and in our case blood on walls. Filthy establishment. Will be making a complaint to Wellington district Council. Manager stated that he would provide refund for stay through booking.com and has lied and not provided refund. Disgusting establishment and should be shut down. Do not book here ever.
Great location, the shower had good pressure and the bed was comfortable enough. However, when I showed up, the staff member was unable to see to me without having to be interrupted multiple times, taking bookings, she looked very busy and I felt like an inconvenience. After a big day, this did not feel welcoming. My room which was about $170 per night had no ventilation so when you shower the room gets damp, there's black mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. The shared kitchen was dirty and messy. It felt like something that in the mid-2000s I would have paid $50 a night for, and so perhaps it is $100 a night worth of room because of the good location....but maybe location is all that matters these days and so they feel they don't need the higher living and service standards? A couple of simple and relatively cheap changes would increase the quality of my stay for sure.
I would not recommend staying here and wish we had chosen elsewhere. Cleanliness and maintenance were consistently poor, with dirty crockery, dust, mould in the bathroom, and a strong musty smell. There were multiple issues including a leaking roof, swollen door frames, non-working lights, minimal kitchen supplies, and significant noise between rooms, making the stay very uncomfortable. They upgraded us to a different room, but the same uncleanliness standards were there.
Definitely budget accommodation. An old, tired property with an eclectic selection of very different rooms. Front desk young woman was friendly and very helpful. Parking is a jumbled nightmare up a very steep driveway. Better to access the sloping parking area from the top via Edge Hill service road. Room was tidy and clean enough. Only 1 window opened. Room was stuffy even with it open as far as it would go. No fan in room. Minimal cutlery. 2 dinner plates, a single tea spoon, 2 mugs and 2 glasses, as well as a kettle. I was expecting at least 2 cereal bowls, 2 desert spoons and 2 forks as a minimum. Location is good in terms of access to eateries and the southern edge of the CBD, and there's a New World within a 5 min walk. I think it's overpriced for what it is, especially since the parking is difficult, no staff available between 5pm and 8am, external doors are always open with seemingly little security, rooms are old and in serious need of tlc, and in room facilities are super basic. Was useful for what we needed in the moment, but wouldn't stay again unless absolutely no other choice.
I would never recommend this place. It takes cheap and dirty to an entirely different level. First studio No. 23 smelled really bad of BO. It appeared clean but we itched the entire night and were covered in bites (bed bugs for sure) the next day. Fridge froze everything, towels smelled of BO and carpets were dirty! Pots were all dirty. Studio was for three people but only 1 bowl, 2 teaspoons, 1 dessert spoon and shower flooded! Iron board broken and iron didn't heat up. Ceiling leaked and woke up to a flooded kitchenette. Moved to No. 21 (no apologies). That room did not have a working TV, toilet didn't flush properly and shower flooded (took plumber 9 hours to come and attend to shower, he came at 9pm that night). Did not fix toilet because he wasn't told to. Stinky cupboards, itching beds again and mattress so old that you roll to the middle. No apologies, just "if you're not happy we can refund you". Yeah right, so I can wait 14days to get my money back. Laundry facility albeit free use, was absolutely, disgustingly filthy. It hasn't been cleaned in months! Dryer smelled like a sweat shop. What a waste of time and money...oh and the female receptionist is a rude, inconsiderate woman. Why even bother!
