While staying at Rydges Wellington for a couple of days, our son headed off to do his own thing before dinner, so my husband and I decided to pop over to Flamingo Joe’s for a pre-dinner drink. We’re so glad we did! It’s a fun, colourful bar right on the waterfront with a fantastic atmosphere. We enjoyed a couple of delicious cocktails from the menu, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind before heading back to the hotel for dinner. If you’re looking for a vibrant place for drinks in Wellington, I’d definitely recommend Flamingo Joe’s. Great location, excellent cocktails, and a really enjoyable vibe.

Went for dinner. Ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and Pork Belly Taco. Chicken was dry, lacked sauce and not very crisp. Pieces were all different sizes and the different pieces all had a different texture. Pork Belly Taco though was not bad. Wasn’t fantastic though and something I would recommend. Service was ok. Took a while for our food to arrive after ordering.

Absolutely loved my experience here first time & we were served by the lovely Steph! What a gem & don’t get me started on the Mediterranean pasta!!! Yum! The drinks were so well priced & so delicious, definitely recommend my Passionfruit Mule for a Taptail cocktail. Th is so much guys, definitely coming back!

What a refreshing turnaround this place was. After a rather disappointing experience elsewhere, walking into Flamingo Joe's Bar & Eatery felt like an instant mood reset. The vibe is fun, colourful, and relaxed — exactly what you want when you’re just trying to enjoy good food and unwind. The waffles were beautifully done: crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and plated with care. Comfort food done right. On top of that, the waterfront view is lovely — calm, open, and perfect for slowing down and enjoying the moment, even on a grey day. But the real highlight? The lady behind the counter. She was bubbly, genuinely warm, and full of positive energy — the kind of service that immediately makes you feel welcome. No forced smiles, no attitude, just good vibes and sincere hospitality. It honestly made such a difference, especially after coming from a place where service felt cold and transactional. Flamingo Joe’s is a reminder that great service doesn’t have to be complicated — just be kind, present, and human. I’ll happily come back again, not just for the food, but for the people and the view.
