We had a great time visiting Crab Shack in Wellington. The fish and the onion rings that we ordered were really nice and tasted very fresh. The chips were also cooked just right (not soggy and not overdone). Quantity of the dishes that we ordered was decent and had a nice selection of cocktails and mocktails.
Had a meal by the Wellington waterfront at The Crab Shack. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming. On the downside, service was very slow, which took a bit away from the experience. The food was good, mostly fish and seafood, but on the greasy side since most of it is fried. A decent spot for the setting, but they could improve on service speed.
Great location and service was awesome! Food was good and no issues, just not blow your socks off. We had the tempura soft shell crab, fish and chips and the kids burger and Mac and cheese. Kids portions were great, as were the fish and chips! A large table of 12 and no complaints across the board, the star of the show was the musselsx
Made our way back to Crab Shack after a while and it absolutely still lives up to the hype. The seafood was incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly, and packed with flavour in every bite. You can really tell the quality of the ingredients shines through in every dish. The atmosphere is always fun and lively, making it such a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family. Everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavour, and it reminded us exactly why this place has become such a Wellington favourite. Some places are worth returning to again and again, and Crab Shack is definitely one of them.
I wanted to eat bluff oysters. They didn’t have but was served the Te Matuku oysters from Waiheke island. Ordered 1/2 dozen. Taste was superb. They oysters were fresh ( except for one ) but the waitress replaced it immediately. We didn’t know they are related to shed 5 ( same owner). When asked, the waitress immediately gave us a choice. We decided to remain in Crab shack as it’s more relaxed & less crowded. We had fish & chips. Very fresh fish & lovely batter. Chips were superb. Didnt quite enjoy the coleslaw ( just personal preference) The green lip mussels in curry sauce is tasty and done well . ( we prefer the blue mussels from Australia) No fault of Crab shack The seafood chowder was yummy . Very Unami in taste & full of fresh fish & prawns. However it’s too generous with the corn kernels
