Asked for disability services after I ended up at the ER with life-threatening symptoms from neglect after my partner-turned-caregiver left. Mucked me around and I fought to refer myself and they assessed me as urgent. Ended up in the ER with a cardiac emergency from malnutrition and dehydration (months after I alerted my doctor to needing disability services urgently). He acted nice to the ER staff on the phone then sent a passive-aggressive text reprimanding me for telling them that I had asked for disability care and telling me that that was 'not in his gift'. Head of the practice gaslit me when I tried to report this negligence. At the same time I was being denied entry to women's transitional housing because I am too disabled the doctors refused to agree I was disabled. When they finally did, the backlogged system and not having care means I am now fighting for my life, homeless and still receiving zero help. Be careful if you are autistic/disabled and don't have family or a safety net. I hope to survive but am so angry that I asked for disability services months before this became life-threatning. The head of practice tried to make my complaint about my feelings, rather than the physical life-threatning danger I am in due to neglect. With the rushed law changes backlogging all the systems, I am just left to die now.

I have hope! I saw Dr Javier Stroud today. I felt heard and that he had a genuine curiosity to find the root cause of my issues, not just treat the symptoms. He explained things clearly and even drew me a picture to help me understand! I have found my doctor. Thank you Dr Stroud!

A really good and professional GP practice. My GP, Dr Stroud, has gone out of his way to ensure that my health needs are met. Can't recommend Courtenay Medical enough.

I am so impressed and happy to say I have made the right choice in hunting Dr Javier Stroud down at Courtenay Medical. Long story short, I went to the Adelaide Road After Hours Medical Centre a few years back and Dr Stroud was the GP on that day that saw me. He was so fantastic in his approach as he wrote out a bullet point list with a plan for me to follow up with my GP. He got the ball rolling for me in regards to some ultrasounds that he recommend I have. I made a pact with myself that day that if my GP of 25 years ever left his practice I will hunt down Dr Stroud to be my next GP. Well it happened . . . and I have to say the transition has been so simple and self satisfying. From my chat to the lovely Olivia on their reception, to being accepted as Dr Stroud’s patient I am feeling thrilled. I’ve also been treated by Dr Maria Camba when I had a nasty virus. Her care and attention to detail is also amazing. They run a very efficient practice so you don’t end up sitting around waiting for ages. Parking is a breeze along Taranaki Street and it’s a very short simple walk across to their building. After everyone saying how difficult it is to find a good doctor in NZ, I am feeling very lucky indeed. I rate Courtenay Medical very highly.

If you’re looking for a trusted medical centre in Wellington, NZ, I can’t recommend Courtenay Medical highly enough. I’ve been a patient there for over five years, and the care has been consistently outstanding. The entire team is fantastic — from reception through to the doctors. They’re friendly, professional, and genuinely care about their patients. What really stands out is how they look after more vulnerable family members. I often book appointments for my 2-year-old and my elderly parents, and every single time the doctors and nurses take extra special care. They’re patient, gentle, and never rush the appointment. They take the time to clearly explain what’s going on, answer questions in plain language, and make sure we feel comfortable with the next steps. It’s not just good service, it’s 10/10 service. You feel heard, respected, and supported. If you’re searching for a family doctor in Wellington, a caring GP for toddlers, or compassionate medical care for elderly parents, Courtenay Medical truly goes above and beyond.
