Local pharmacy providing a huge range of essentials in Manners Street
I recently purchased Gaviscon from Bargain Chemist on Manners Street. After using it for a few days, I noticed that the product had expired on 1 March 2026. I admit that I also made a mistake by not checking the expiry date before buying it. However, it is very disappointing and unacceptable for a store to keep expired products on its shelves, even if they have only been expired for a few months. This was a very bad experience. I do not recommend this Bargain Chemist.
I visited the store to buy hair dye. There was almost none and shelves were empty. On the way out I was rudely stopped by the guard rudely in the door who demanded to see my bags because I did not buy anything. It was done in front of other patrons who joked that I got a lucky draw. I will never set foot in the store ever again but you may want to review your policy and how these situations are done. I was singled out and exposed to public shaming. This is unacceptable.
Can't speak for others' experience but both times I have picked up a prescription here the staff were absolutely lovely, communicative and patient! Were able to send me a text so I could come back once my prescription was ready and were willing to make up a prescription for me even though they were 10 minutes from closing. Super friendly, polite, and understanding. Thanks/shoutout Rue and Claudia! 💜
I came into this pharmacy recently to grab a few essentials because your prices were cheaper than most places. While I was browsing, I witnessed an older man yelling at a young girl behind the counter at the back of the store. She honestly looked like she had only just started working, and it was quite upsetting to watch. What made it worse was that nobody stepped in to support her. It seemed like she was being blamed for a delay that probably wasn’t even in her control. I’ve worked in stressful environments before, and usually these situations come down to poor systems or lack of support and not the worker standing at the counter trying their best. I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but this genuinely stuck with me. My daughter passed away from health conditions some time ago, and that girl reminded me so much of her. Seeing someone so young being spoken to like that honestly broke my heart. I also noticed there didn’t seem to be any security or support around when things escalated. Staff shouldn’t have to deal with aggressive behaviour alone. Please do better when it comes to supporting and protecting your workers. They deserve kindness and a safe workplace too.
I needed a supplement for my autistic child who survives off chicken nuggets. His nutritionist recommended it and I was happy they had it. Friendly service. Good location. Lots of other shops close by.
