Absolutely loved our stay at Lake Ferry Hotel. The four new houses out the back are fantastic — beautifully appointed, incredibly comfortable, with great views and all the little touches you want, including a TV for when you’ve finally exhausted your ability to stare at the scenery. Having the hotel right there is brilliant too. You can wander over for a drink and a meal without having to organise transport, which is particularly convenient after a few beverages when suddenly a 30-metre walk feels like an expedition. The service was lovely, and the guy running the place is genuinely one of those people who makes you feel welcome straight away. We were very, very happy with our stay and would absolutely come back. Highly recommended!

Really good service. Luke let us know in advance about the road closures from the bad weather, and he made sure our room was warm before we arrived, which was perfect on such a cold day. Excellent customer care. We’ll be back when the weather is nicer to enjoy the lakeside.

Beautiful dinner, amazing service crazy views out every window. We had fish and chips and a paua burger, couldnt fault it everything down to the salad dressing thats made in house was absolutely perfect. I wouldve taken a photo but I couldnt let my camera appreciate the meal before me.

We stayed in the campground opposite which was brilliant! Jeff was more than welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The old pub had the most beautiful view and we were lucky to catch a wonderful sunset. We ate there on the last night and had a really tasty meal. Debs one of the staff members went out of her way to make sure we had a good table and she was really friendly and genuinely interested in where we were from. Excellent service. We had the best two days on the edge of the north island!

Chose to stay as we were going to Martinborough Fair, the Putangirua Pinnicles, and a trip around the coast to Cape Paliser all of which were superb. Very friendly staff at the historic Hotel, our room was clean and tidy with great views out over Lake Onoke and the ocean. We had a nice seating area in front of our room which we sat in to enjoy a great Martinborough wine and breakfast in the morning. The Hotel restaurant was a nice place to sit in to enjoy more views and the staff reccomendation of Lake Ferry Hotel Fish n Chips snd salad was superb with locally caught fish, highly recommend. Note that the rooms do not have bathrooms but there are shared facilities which we found were very clean. A continental breakfast bar is available in the morning with enough choice to satisfy the pickiest of people. We did take our surfcaster rods to try our luck fishing with the locals.
