A bit out of the way, need a car but fun country location, clean, well set up community kitchen/ loungers. Bring yr own groceries !

We had a wonderful stay in Purple Hen and were grateful to have warm and hospitable hosts like Andrea and Rupert. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bed and pillows are really comfy. I usually have problem sleeping but I slept really well in Purple Hen. The lounge and the pantry area are spacious and well equiped. My family had a great and relaxing time staying here. I would highly recommend Purple Hen to anyone who needs accomodation in Katikati.

The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. We stayed in the Princess Rm which is cozy and clean. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. We visited nearby Karangahate Gorge and Bowen Town, Shelly Bay. Both offer great walks and amazing views 👍. We even had a short nature walk around the premises , fully appreciating the chance to look at fruit trees like avacado, grinkgo etc and other NZ native trees like Manuka , Kanuka etc. Overall, I highly recommend this place to nature lovers who desire a peaceful and serene environment.

What a beautiful place!! Andrea and her Husband are very lovely people. I brought some of my women's Rugby team down for the night as we had a tournament the next day in Katikati. We didn't want to leave so for next time I'll be organizing a little longer of a stay there next time. Good facilities, rooms are cozy, entertainment room on 🔥 and the beautiful outdoors is so refreshing. Thanks again for letting us stay 🙏 ❤️

Stayed at the Purple Hen for one night. I found it to exceptionally clean, and the hosts Andrea and Rupert were charming and accommodating. I loved the quirky, comfy sofas in the shared lounge and the kitchen was more than well equipped . Pata-tennis was great and plenty of board games. I stayed in room 1 which was huge and the heat pump made it cozy. The best thing was the shower, amazing pressure, just like the best massage. Thanks guys for a great stay, totally will be back next time I'm marching in Tauranga
