What a fantastic afternoon! The gin making and tasting experience was so much more than we expected. It was hands-on, interactive and incredibly informative, but also relaxed and great fun. The hosts were knowledgeable, welcoming and clearly passionate about what they do, making the whole experience engaging from start to finish. Being able to explore the different botanicals and create our own personalised gin was a real highlight. It was fascinating to see how small changes in ingredients could completely change the flavour profile. The tasting was excellent and the platter was beautifully presented, generous and full of delicious local produce that paired perfectly with the drinks. Whether you’re a gin enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience with friends, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. A wonderful mix of learning, laughter, great food and great company. We’ll definitely be back!

What an incredible experience! We did the gin making and tasting experience along with the platter, and it was one of the highlights of our weekend away. The whole experience was interactive, engaging, educational and, most importantly, a lot of fun. The team struck the perfect balance between sharing the science and craft behind gin making while keeping everything relaxed and entertaining. Learning about the different botanicals, experimenting with flavours, and creating our own unique gin was fascinating, and there were plenty of laughs along the way. The tasting experience was excellent, giving us the opportunity to sample a range of beautifully crafted gins and liqueurs while learning what makes each one distinctive. The platter was also fantastic – generous, fresh and full of delicious local produce that paired perfectly with the drinks. What really stood out was the passion and knowledge of the hosts. Their enthusiasm was infectious and made the whole experience feel personal and memorable. If you’re looking for something a little different, whether as a couple, with friends, or for a special occasion, I highly recommend it. We left with a much greater appreciation for gin, our own personalised bottle to take home, and some wonderful memories.

Paul and Angela are gracious and knowledgeable hosts at the Matahui gin making experience. We had a relaxed afternoon tasting and testing botanicals, and choosing and combining flavours to create our own bespoke gins. This was a really fun experience. Angela showed us around their gardens to see all the different plants that they use to make their excellent award winning gins, before taking us through a tasting of their gins, liqueurs and an excellent coffee martini. I thoroughly recommend this very relaxed and enjoyable experience, and can’t wait to taste my own gin.

We absolutely loved our visit to the distillery. It was such a great experience to make our own gins ! A little walk around the garden and tasting the raw ingredients was definitely a cherry on the cake.

Make your own Gin they said...and what fun we had! Platter to start was sensational, a couple of pre tasting guns to get us in the mood. We then learnt about the gin business and proceeded to make our very own gin. Such good fun and great hosts Thanks Paul for an excellent gin making experience 5*
