Walk along the Uretara Stream with haiku carved into river boulders
The Katikati Haiku Pathway is a lovely place for a walk (dogs allowed). It is the only dedicated haiku walk outside of Japan, boasting over 40 beautiful poems hand-carved into massive river boulders. It opened in June 2000 as a Millennium Project, this stunning park was championed by local poet Catherine Mair. It transformed a once-neglected commercial wasteland along the historic Uretara Stream (an 1870s settler shipping link) into a beautiful public sanctuary.
A Lovely stroll through this well maintained park. Plenty of steaming and bubbling pools to enjoy at no cost.

Amazing Dog Park! It was our first time at this park today and it is amazing. Great space to walk, plenty of shelter from the trees and the swimming spots for our pup just topped it off 🐾 HaikuPark is also very clean. Lots of rubbish bins and bags available for those who forgot theirs and Haiku etched in to rocks around the park.
Nice Simple Walk in the Middle of Katikati.A lot of Haiku quotes on Rocks and a easy flat track right by the riverside.Plenty of seating to take a Break and a couple of bridges to wonder over.Heaps of Trees and Sculptures,Plants to look at.Great Place to relax 🙂
