Self-contained cottage with full kitchen within Katikati Bird Gardens
What a great introduction to New Zealand. Spent our first two nights right off the plane at Scott’s place. Very soothing and quiet. Scott met us and gave us the introduction to the house. Told us about the bird sanctuary and area. Everything was as advertised. The bed was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed some of the drinks and food left for us in the fridge. Very spacious bathroom and great hot water and pressure. Would stay again if we came back.
We had a wonderful weekend in a very cozy cottage and enjoyed early morning and late afternoon walks in the gardens. My highlight was feeding the peacocks from my hand! Look forward to our next visit.
Amazing!
Had time to spare around the area and stopped in after seeing the sign on the highway. Ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. You pay a small fee to get into the gardens and buy bird food as well which lasted the whole hour of your time here. Lovely walks throughout the gardens too would recommend for anyone passing by.
Relaxing and comfortable. The cottage is a wonderful place to stay. It has character and charm. If you're after a calm beautiful place to stay then this is it. We will return.
