See New Zealand fur seals sunbathing on rocks and playing in the shallows

That’s what I call a colony. We’ve seen seals in many places around NZ sometimes you’d spot just a few but here there were like 50 of them. Just living their best life. Be very mindful and respectful of their space. We tried to stay as quiet as possible. They didn’t seem to be too bother by our presence.
My favorite place in New Zealand to see fur seals. For sure the best place in North Island.
SOOOOO MANY SEALS!!!!! Was sooo happy watching the baby seals jump around and play. Wasnt expecting there to be as many as there were. Got a little obsessed 😅
This is probably the best spot to view fur seals in North Island. Plenty of them would be sunbathing on the rocks. Young ones get trained in the shallows around the rocks. Quite a few love to crawl up on the grass and enjoy sunshine while lying on the grass.
Stopped here on the way to the light house (another 5 min drive down the road). The road conditions aren't great in some sections but can easily do it in a car, just take your time. The seal colony is spread out but can't miss them, there are hundreds of them!!! Be aware, they do cross the road!
