Visited in early October. Very nice park with plenty of recreational areas. Well groomed walking trails and a long and winding staircase to the beach area. Plenty of parking at the time of visit but probably fills quickly during the summer months. Nice beach area but watch for dog owners who don't leash their dog or clean up after it.
Show moreClean park on Lake Michigan in Grafton. Picnic tables, beach access via 239 steps, and plenty of parking. Secluded places to find some quiet spaces.
This is a really special place amongst the Lake Michigan beaches. This unique park boasts a staircase with 227 steps. It can be a little uneven at times and at the bottom is a narrow metal staircase which means this portion of the park is not accessible. The rest of the park is. You’d forget you’re in Wisconsin when something like this is more akin to California. It’s not usually very crowded at the bottom. There is no lifeguard so swim at your own risk. The water is beautiful and clear.
Show moreI was looking for a nice lakeside park to stop, think, and breathe. I didn’t expect much when I saw this park on the map, but WOW. It has a unique feel brimming with tranquility and serenity. The lake views are absolutely stunning, being that this park is atop a tall bluff (there’s a massive, well-built, 227-step staircase leading down to access the lakeshore). Lovely walking trails; towering pines; beautiful silver birch trees; and an ongoing symphony of many types of birds. Great place to find the peace and renewal that my soul desperately needs.
