Wow, what an amazing experience! We were staying in Argeles-sur-mer and booked the wine & cheese tasting session at Domaine Treloar through their website. It was a pleasant 30 minute drive from our accommodation to the winery in Trouillas. We were welcomed by Jonathan and Rachel, before Jonathan led us through the wine making equipment and process before sitting us down in front of an inviting cheese plate and 6 (or maybe) 7 bottles of wine. Jonathan then walked us through all the wines, teaching us which wines paired with the 6 different cheeses on offer. He explained the different grape varieties that went into each wine and the blending process for production. Being inquisitive souls, my wife and I asked many questions to which Jonathan answered enthusiastically. Our scheduled 60 minute session lasted almost 2 hours (sorry Jonathan)! It is clear and obvious that this is a husband and wife team that are extremely proud of what they have built at Domaine Treloar. They have such a lovely story to tell about their journey and the naming of the wines. Domaine Treloar produces beautifully balanced wines that are good to exceptional and reasonably priced. If you are considering a visit, do not hesitate.
