I come from the Allgäu region, where people are familiar with places like the Brwitach or the Startlachklamm gorge. Compared to those, the Gorge de Lavail is just a "puddle," but still very beautiful. An asphalt road leads to Lavail, which consists of about 10 houses in the middle of the forest. From there, it's about 600 meters along a forest path (follow the Route des Pompiers), partly covered with rough stones, but quite manageable by bike. This path ends at private property, and about 100 meters before this end, you can easily dismount at a rock face to reach the pool, as shown in the picture. Swimming is officially prohibited, but it's a lovely little spot nonetheless.
