See a solar furnace in operation, including lead melting demonstrations
We recommend this visit to anyone interested in learning about solar furnaces. The tour begins with a short introductory video about the site, followed by a presentation from a guide who provides a wealth of information while demonstrating some experiments. Finally, the solar furnace is used to melt lead. This site, run by a volunteer association, is very engaging. Please note that payment is in cash as credit cards are not accepted.

Great when it’s open! Lovely volunteers helping out on this brilliant project started by a religious scientist from Portugal in 1900 .
