Local post office offering mail services and banking in Canet-en-Roussillon
Today I was denied to purchase International stamps because I told them I was sending my postcard to the USA. In fact on this very day there are no general restrictions on postcards from US to France. There were some customs restrictions on packages but nothing on a postcard stamp or letter. The the employees are not very well-informed here, not the best experience
Is it really necessary to have four people working to resolve the issue of a single lost customer's mail? Could it be possible to serve customers before engaging in personal conversations with colleagues? Is it conceivable to ACTUALLY WORK before going off to have a good laugh at your friends' bank offices? Is it too much to ask to open on time at 2:00 PM instead of 2:10 PM...?
There are two post offices in Canet-en-Roussillon. The one on the Côte Vermeille is temporarily closed (no reopening date given), and the second is only open in the mornings. Canet-en-Roussillon wants to do a lot, but public services are getting worse and worse, even though we pay enough taxes. It's truly a decline.
A very bad experience. I arrived at 5:22 PM to pick up a package, based on the hours indicated on the website, which stated a closing time of 5:30 PM. However, the branch was already closing, and I was refused entry. The person who greeted me was very aggressive and unprofessional, without trying to understand my situation, even though I simply wanted to collect a package. I was made to understand that I was not welcome and that I would have to come back another day, with no consideration whatsoever for the error in the online hours. I understand the constraints of closing time, but a minimum of courtesy and consistency in the hours would be appreciated.
The post office is still just as unpleasant: a curt "hello," no goodbye, using the informal "tu" form, confusing me because they can't find a mailbox in my building even though everything is clearly marked and I PAID for this service. They don't even give me two seconds to find the code and, before I've even looked, sends me straight to the side of the line. In short, a minimum of politeness and no using the informal "tu" form would be the bare minimum. Just because I'm 20 doesn't mean I don't deserve respect!
