A beautiful, peaceful, typically 'French' site. Reception personnel were professional, helpful and courteous. They couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. 'Super Top' Pitches are flat, partly shaded, and with hedges in between, affording reasonable privacy, although sometimes open at both ends - which does actually simplify arrival and departure. There is access to electricity close to each pitch, with drinkable water and waste water disposal at the sanitary blocks. The site is clean and well maintained. Cash and cards accepted. I paid approximately €290 for 14 nights with ACSI, commencing 31/05. 1 motorhome, 1 person with electricity. At my previous campsite, I paid €140 for 1 week, also in Pyrenées Orientales, so Ma Prairie's price is fair. The in-house restaurant ('Coté Sud', across the road) is more of a tapas bar, with a menu offering light meals, which we managed to take advantage of, on one occasion. It did seem to to be shut quite a lot of the time though, which was frustrating, not least since there are no other restaurants within easy walking distance. The village is bi-sected by a major dual carriageway (D617), which has heavy traffic. There are no retail outlets, including any supermarkets, on the side where the campsite is situated. (There used to be a nearby Lidl, but it closed down). On the other side of the highway, there is a small Utile convenience store in the village of Canet (900m) which is expensive but has the basics. Alternatively, there are large supermarkets, including Intermarche, Lidl and Aldi on the edge of the village, on the other side of the main highway, and accessible principally by car. These supermarkets are well stocked and normally priced. Architecturally, the surrounding villages are unremarkable and have little interest or character. The city of Perpignan, however, is worth a visit, having retained a degree of charm in its old quarters. Internet / mobile coverage is feeble : signal strength ranges from 2 bars down to 0 with a performance to match. Frequently utterly useless. Completely unsuitable for work purposes. There is on site wiFi, which is free for the first 30 minutes, but thereafter, it is chargeable. Travel around the village by bicycle can be challenging and complicated. There are some dedicated cyclepaths, but not that many - and they are poorly signposted. The main highway that cuts the village in half, severely restricts pedestrian and cycle traffic. There is a half hourly bus service to Perpignan. The one way fare is €1,50. In summation, a quiet and very well maintained site, but one that is probably unsuitable for visitors without the use of car, (as opposed to a motorhome that is installed on a pitch). A good base, perhaps, for visiting places on the coast - if you have a car.
