Old World usually refers to historic wine-producing countries in Europe. New World commonly describes regions elsewhere. The terms are cultural shorthand, not measures of quality.

Taste the same grape from two places and compare acidity, ripeness, texture, oak, and alcohol. Use the distinction as a starting question, never as the final answer.
